Join the YMCA of Greensboro for Welcoming Week 2025—a national celebration that brings together people of all backgrounds to build connections and foster inclusive communities. Held in partnership with Welcoming America, this annual event shines a spotlight on the power of unity, understanding, and shared humanity. Welcoming Week activities are free and open to the public!

This year’s theme, "Belonging Begins With Us," reflects the Y’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community for all. Throughout the week, each of our YMCA branches will host unique activities designed to celebrate diversity, promote cross-cultural exchange, and help every individual feel seen, valued, and connected.

Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the Y, we invite you to be part of something special. Come learn about the vast cultures within our community, meet your neighbors, and experience the joy of belonging.

Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical – Community Showing at Barber Park

Join us at Barber Park in Greensboro, NC (by the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA) for a special outdoor screening of Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical! 🎶✨

This heartwarming musical celebrates the joy and magic of summer camp, the importance of preserving what you love, and the adventures that happen along the way. Follow Charlie Brown as he sets out to make his final year of camp unforgettable, while Sally navigates the jitters of her very first camp experience. Meanwhile, Snoopy and Woodstock stumble upon a treasure map that leads to a wild and exciting journey!

Date & Time: September 19, 6-8 p.m. (Movie begins at dusk or shortly after 7 p.m. The movie is 40 minutes in length.)

Location: Barber Park Amphitheater, 1500 Barber Park Dr, Greensboro, NC 27401 (by Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA)

Bring your family and friends, along with lawn chairs and blankets, for a fun community gathering under the stars—perfect for all ages!

  • Voter Registration at the Y: The NC League of Conservation Voters will be onsite to help community members register to vote or update their information. Join us Monday through Saturday, 9:00–11:00 a.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m. 

  • Need help with your phone, tablet, or computer? Stop by for help with technology programs and devices! The Digital Navigators program is available in partnership with NC A&T State University's Bluford Library and is available now through June 4 at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA. The Digital Navigators team can assist with mobile devices, video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and other tech support needs. See their weekday availability below:

    • Monday: 12:00–4:00 p.m. and 5:30–7:00 p.m.

    • Tuesday: 12:30–4:30 p.m.

    • Wednesday: 6:00–10:00 a.m. and 5:30–7:00 p.m.

  • High-Five for the Y Annual Campaign! Support our Annual Giving Campaign by donating $5 and taking a photo with our campaign frame. Your donation helps ensure everyone in our community has access to Y programs and services.

Events and Activities

  • Representatives from the Children’s Home Society will be tabling with information about adoption and foster care services. Family adoption and foster care information will be at the Y on Tuesday, September 16 from 9–10 a.m. 

  • Sisters Network will be available to share information about mammogram screenings and healthcare resources. Stop by to review women’s health resources Thursday, September 18 from 4-5 p.m.

  • Fall Prevention Education: Tuesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 18 from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. This session is designed to help older adults prevent falls and improve balance and confidence in daily life.

In recognition of Fall Prevention Awareness Month, the YMCA of Greensboro is highlighting group exercise classes that are designed to improve balance, flexibility, strength, and confidence—key factors in reducing the risk of falls.
