After School at the Y
The Y has worked in the childcare and after school space for years, and our holistic approach helps children improve their study habits and reading skills, build healthy eating and physical activity habits, and gain exposure to the arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), global learning and more.
After School programs can turn the hours after school into a productive learning time and make learning fun. We are willing and confident in our ability to provide safety and supervision to help children continue to learn, grow and thrive. Our Ys offer member discounts on after school care and have three different options for childcare in Greensboro, NC, Jamestown and Rockingham County, from Kindergarten through Middle School.

After School Offerings
We offer member discounts on after school care and three options for care for children in kindergarten through middle school.
All-day childcare programs are also available when Guilford County Schools are closed for teacher workdays.
Start Date: August 26, 2024 (August 12 at YMCA at TMSA) | End Date: June 11, 2025 (YMCA at TMSA: May 23, 2025; Eden, Reidsville YMCA: June 6, 2025)
After School Hours: Monday–Friday 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Teacher Workday Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Afterschool Hours: Monday – Friday | 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Price: $230 Members | $270 Community Guests (One-time registration fee is $30 per child)

All Day Drop-In Care
Looking for a safe, nurturing and fun place for your children to go when school is out? The Ragsdale Family YMCA offers an all-day drop-in care program for kids currently enrolled in kindergarten through middle school! Kids will play games in our gym, spend time outdoors, swim and build lasting friendships, all under the eyes of our watchful, engaged staff.
Teacher Workday Hours: 7:30am – 6pm
Teacher Workdays Price: $35 Members | $40 Community Guests
After school, holidays and breaks follow the Guilford County School schedule.

We will be running on the Guilford County Schools' calendar this school year. All out of school days will be when Guilford County Schools is out of school.
Bus Monitors and Homework Helpers
Do you have a passion for working with youth? The Spears YMCA after school program has volunteer and employment opportunities starting in August until June each year. If you would like to be a bus monitor or volunteer working with children, we would love to have you!
The YMCA is looking for dedicated people who want to spend time with children in enrichment activities and ensure a safe and fun environment. Help us accomplish that this school year!
All interested volunteers should fill out a volunteer application or please contact Des'Tri Kaefer, Youth Development Director.
