Connect with Others and Stay Active
Practicing a recreational sport has multiple benefits for adults, just as they do for kids and teens. Some of the benefits of practicing sports as an adult are stress management, self-esteem, motivation and improved physical and mental health.
Sports also provide opportunities for social connection and building community, which can be just as important. From young adults to seniors, we offer something for everyone!
Some of the adults sports we offer are included in your YMCA membership, while others require an additional fee. Check out all the details to enroll in any of our Ys in Greensboro, NC, Jamestown or Rockingham County below. We can’t wait to see you again!

Once you’ve played it, the attraction of pickleball—for seniors, especially—is clear. It’s fast-paced, low-impact, and familiar; anyone who’s played a racquet sport before can quickly get the hang of it. Because the court is small (it can fit into half or even a third of a tennis court), and doubles games are standard, players run a lot less than they would in tennis.
Pickleball Team at the Bryan YMCA

Racquetball is offered at the Eden YMCA
The following policy has been developed to ensure that every Y member has the opportunity to enjoy the racquetball courts: A member 16 and over may reserve a court up to and no more than three (3) times per week and only once a day. Members 14 and 15 may reserve courts with professional or full-time staff approval only. Any member under 16 may play with an adult at any time. A player may play in only one time slot per day. This is to ensure that three or four people cannot dominate court time. Reservations for the day will be taken beginning at 5am Anyone who wishes to reserve the court for 5am may call after 6pm the previous night.
Thank you very much for your cooperation concerning this policy. We feel it will allow each of our members the maximum opportunity to enjoy the courts.
