We know wellness involves more than working out. It's about making good choices to live well inside and out. You’re not only supported by our staff, but you’re also part of a community that helps you be your best self at every age.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight, get stronger, eat healthier, fight disease, improve your energy or lower stress, we have people and programs in place to help.

For more than 130 years, the Y has served as a nonprofit leader and partner in community health, delivering evidence-based health programs and interventions that benefit vulnerable populations and those managing the life-altering effects of chronic disease. 

During the pandemic, NC YMCAs have partnered with health experts and developed operational plans that meet or exceed requirements and recommendations of the CDC and NC DHHS. Therefore, we are confident in our YMCA's capacity to open our indoor fitness centers safely. For so many in our community, exercise therapy is a key to recovery, disease management and prevention. 

Following the all guidelines provided by the NC DHHS, areas and offerings may be limited.

What to Expect/How You Can Help

  • Most importantly, if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone with COVID-19, please stay home! Help us keep our Y communities safe and healthy.
  • Face coverings are required at all times, including during indoor exercise (as required by the governor's latest executive order).
  • Please review our member expectations by clicking here.
  • Members will be asked to sign an updated waiver before participating in any Y offerings. Waivers can be found here. Once you have completed this waiver, you do not need to complete it again.
  • To ensure the utmost safety of our members, we will limit use to NC YMCA members.
  • All team members, members and vendors who are unwilling to comply with the Y’s COVID transmission prevention measures will be asked to leave.
  • We will be conducting wellness and temperature checks of all who enter the facility. Members will be screened for COVID-19 exposure and/or symptoms prior to entering the Y. These questions include:
    • Have you had close contact (within 6 feet for at least 10 minutes) in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, or has any health department been in contact with you and advised you to quarantine?
    • In the last 72 hours, have you had a fever or felt feverish, had any muscle aches, chills, or respiratory symptoms, including runny nose, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath; or developed a new loss of taste or smell?
       

Healthy Kids Day Scavenger Run/Walk/Play

All April long!

All through April, join us for our Scavenger Run/Walk/Play! To celebrate Healthy Kids, the YMCA of Greensboro will be offering a Scavenger Run/Walk each week. The list of items to find on your adventure will be posted on our YGSO Wellness Challenges Community Facebook Group each Thursday morning, beginning April 1.

You will have a week to find at least 5 of the items and post pictures of them in the Facebook Group. Everyone who posts pictures of at least 5 of the items will be entered into a weekly raffle for Y swag.

Minutes for Mental Health

A Challenge for the Mind and Body

In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, participate in a challenge built for your mental AND physical health.

Each week, we’ll share a mental health statistic, as well as a correlated challenge. At the end, those who complete all of the challenges will receive a t-shirt designed for the challenge.

Feel more confident, comfortable and knowledgeable in the weight room. This closed, 4-week session will help raise your familiarity with weight lifting, proper techniques and increase your muscle mass. Each session will focus on learning to use various machines to work different muscle groups.

Reidsville YMCA

Walk to the Beach

Date and Time: April 5th - July 3rd 2021
A minimum of 30 participants is required by March 31st to hold the program.

Members ONLY, $10

Registration includes a t-shirt (cost increases by $5 after March 26th)
Each visit to the Reidsville YMCA is 6 beach miles toward 236 total beach miles, an average of 3.5 visits a week for 12 weeks (only one visit per day). You must track miles the same day you visit the YMCA.

Track your beach miles at the Reidsville YMCA front desk. The last day to track miles is July 3rd, and winners will be announced the week of July 5th.

Those who successfully complete the challenge will be entered into a prize drawing.

Can you walk to the beach in just 12 weeks? Join the Reidsville YMCA's Walk to the Beach Challenge to get moving! Each visit to the Reidsville Y earns you "miles walked" to the beach. Participants who successfully walk the 236 miles between the Reidsville Y and the beach will be entered into a drawing for two prizes--one of them for a weekend at the beach!

Join us for Generation POUND®! Generation POUND® was created not just as a workout geared towards kids, but a movement that aims to change the concept of health and fitness for today’s youth. We have implemented health and safety guidelines to keep kids safe while still having fun.

Stroller Motion

Stroller Motion is a functional, full body workout designed for adults with kids in tow! Each 60-minute workout includes strength training and cardio and core restoration, all while kids have fun with songs and activities! Children that attend class should be able to comfortably fit in a controller.

Travel the Tar Heel State

Fitness Challenge

This spring, travel the Tar Heel State with the Y! Choose from three NC cities and challenge yourself to walk or run there. Looking to challenge yourself? Choose Wilmington! Looking for a slightly smaller challenge? Choose Boone or Raleigh.

Dates: Monday, April 5th to Friday, May 14th

Price: FREE to YMCA Members!

Options:

  • Level 1: Raleigh - 66 miles
  • Level 2: Boone - 136 miles
  • Level 3: Wilmington - 190 miles

How to Complete:

Members can complete their miles through walking, biking, running or using an elliptical. Best of all, miles can be accumulated indoors or outdoors!

Each week, members will report their mileage to the membership coordinator, Sydney Herron. Those who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing for some awesome Y swag!
