This summer, the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA will launch its first-ever Esports & Gaming Summer Camp, powered by Metro Esports. Designed for youth of all skill levels, this exciting new program blends the thrill of competitive gaming with the benefits of hands-on STEAM learning, teamwork, and active play. The ESports program is managed and operated by MetroSports.

The YMCA of Greensboro Esports program will be held at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA located at 2630 E. Florida Street, Greensboro, NC.

Dates: June 29–August 21, 2026
Session Options: 9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
Cost Per Session: $200 Members | $260 Community Guests
Camp Maximum: 16
Camp Minimum: 4
Morning and afternoon sessions offer different activities within the same theme. Want the full-day experience? Register for both sessions to enjoy everything the day has to offer. Individual session fees apply.
Parent Promise
The ESports program is managed and operated by MetroSports. MetroSports vets every game experience on monitored computers, ensuring a safe, age-appropriate and positive esports environment for every participant. MetroSports safety software used to protect kids during their gaming experiences is Kidas ProtectMe.

Esports Camp is a fun, social experience designed for gamers of all skill levels. During this four-hour camp, participants enjoy structured gameplay, organized competitions and team challenges centered around the week’s featured games and esports themes. Campers rotate between competitive play and collaborative activities that encourage teamwork, communication, leadership and sportsmanship in a safe, welcoming environment.
Beyond gameplay, campers explore hands-on S.T.E.A.M.-inspired activities connected to gaming and esports culture. Through experiences related to game design, content creation, hardware basics and broadcasting, campers learn how esports works behind the scenes while building problem-solving and creative skills. Each session keeps campers engaged from start to finish while helping them build friendships and create lasting summer memories around the games they love.

This creative and high-energy week blends two iconic game worlds through mini-games, cooperative challenges, and friendly competition. Campers rotate through Minecraft activities and Mario-inspired gameplay that emphasize teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. During the week’s afternoon sessions, campers are introduced to Minecraft Education Edition, where they explore block-based coding and beginner-friendly programming concepts to see how code can influence gameplay, builds, and in-game events—then jump right back into the action.
This fast-paced week is packed with action, teamwork, and laughs as campers dive into Fortnite and Fall Guys through guided matches, rotating team challenges, and structured competitions. Campers build communication and adaptability while playing a variety of game modes and challenges. In the afternoon sessions, campers explore Fortnite Creative tools, experimenting with map layouts, objectives, and simple logic systems to design and test their own custom game experiences.
A fully immersive Roblox experience designed around variety, social play, and creativity. Campers explore a wide mix of popular Roblox games, obstacle courses, and cooperative challenges while working together in team-based activities.
During afternoon sessions, campers step behind the scenes using Roblox Studio to experiment with level design, animation, and basic game logic, learning how Roblox worlds are built and even creating some of their own.
This week combines gameplay with creativity as campers enjoy Minecraft challenges and Mario-themed competitions throughout the camp experience. In the afternoon sessions, campers explore game design concepts inspired by Mario Maker, creating and refining their own levels while learning about pacing, difficulty balance, and player experience. Campers play-test each other’s creations, share feedback, and make improvements in a fun, collaborative environment.
Perfect for campers who love variety and competition, this week rotates through a lineup of age-appropriate multiplayer esports titles. Campers participate in skill-based challenges, team scrimmages, and structured mini-tournaments that highlight communication and strategy. During the afternoon sessions, campers are introduced to gaming hardware concepts, exploring PC components, how systems work together, and how hardware impacts performance through hands-on activities and interactive simulations.
This competitive-focused week brings together fast-paced Fortnite action and platform-fighter fun. Campers participate in guided matches, team challenges, and structured competitions across both games. Afternoon sessions introduce creative-building activities where campers explore how custom maps, objectives, and game mechanics are designed and refined, offering a behind-the-scenes look at competitive game design.
This second Roblox week offers a fresh mix of games, challenges, and creative activities, making it ideal for both new and returning campers. Campers rotate through competitive and cooperative Roblox experiences while continuing to build teamwork and communication skills. In the afternoon sessions, campers explore new design themes and creative tools within Roblox Studio, encouraging experimentation, iteration, and creativity.
This energetic week combines competitive gameplay with the excitement of esports commentary. Campers participate in team-based Fortnite and Fall Guys matches through guided challenges and structured play. In the afternoon sessions, campers are introduced to shoutcasting and esports communication, practicing live commentary, presentation skills, and on-mic confidence in a supportive and engaging setting.
