More Than Games After School Esports Program
The More Than Games (MTG) After School Program will launch in our first-ever Esports & Gaming Room at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA.
Designed for youth of all skill levels, this exciting new add-on for the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA after school program room blends the thrill of competitive gaming with the benefits of hands-on STEAM learning, teamwork, and active play.

Ages: 9-13
Program Begins: August 24, 2026 | Guilford County Schools Calendar
Days: Monday-Friday
Program Dates: October 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027
Program Enrollment Capacity: Max enrollment capacity of 34 students
Registration Fee: YMCA Member Rate: $40 per month | Community Guest Rate: $50 per month
Note on Financial Assistance Scholarship & Discount Eligibility: This after school add-on program is not eligible for scholarships, discounts, or fee assistance programs.

The YMCA of Greensboro Esports program will be held at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA located at 2630 E. Florida Street, Greensboro, NC.

Enrollment Requirements
To participate in the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA After School Esports Add-On Program, youth must:
- Be 9-13 years old
- Be actively enrolled in the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA After School Program
- Maintain active enrollment in the After School Program throughout participation in the Esports Add-On Program
What is the More Than Games After School Program?
More Than Games (MTG) is a STEM-focused Esports enrichment program available to youth enrolled in the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA After School Program. MTG combines esports, coding and technology-based learning to make STEM skills fun and engaging.
After school participants spend approximately one hour each day in the Esports arena exploring structured gaming, coding and hands-on technology activities. Along the way, youth build problem-solving, teamwork, communication and digital skills in a safe, supervised environment.
After School Esports Participants will:
- Learn coding concepts through interactive gaming experiences
- Develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills
- Practice safe and responsible online gaming habits
- Receive homework assistance from caring staff
- Stay active through gym games, swimming and outdoor activities
- Enjoy nutritious afternoon snacks
- Build confidence and friendships in a supportive YMCA environment
Activities may include:
- School pickup
- Arrival and check-in
- Healthy snack
- Homework assistance
- Esports and coding activities (up to three days per week)
- Swimming (one day per week)
- Gym activities (one day per week)
- Choice activities and outdoor recreation
- Family pickup
The program is both instructional and recreational, helping youth build skills through guided play. Participants may occasionally have opportunities to compete with other teams while learning sportsmanship, collaboration and responsible digital citizenship.
