Greensboro, N.C., December 10, 2021 – Reidsville Family YMCA, a YMCA of Greensboro Association location, celebrates its 50th anniversary of serving and connecting with the Rockingham County community in its current facility. The Reidsville Family YMCA will host a week-long celebration of the milestone by offering several community activities and promotions Monday, November 29 through Friday, December 3.
Reidsville Family YMCA was established in 1971 through generous gifts from the supportive community. The Reidsville Y has made a positive impact in the community by offering group fitness classes, swimming lessons, youth sports, community food drives, a safe place for youth and teens, and other initiatives.
"I have had the pleasure of being a Reidsville Family YMCA member for 40 years. I have participated in their programs and found them to be well planned, coordinated, and implemented,” said Harry Brown, YMCA board member and City of Reidsville Mayor Pro Tem. “The YMCA is a tremendous asset to the citizens and the entire Reidsville community. We are fortunate to have the YMCA in our city."
Reidsville Family YMCA 50th Anniversary celebration activities include:
- Monday, November 29: Free and open to the community Zumba class from 6:35 – 7:35 p.m. Registration is required.
- Tuesday, November 30: Give $50 to celebrate Reidsville Family YMCA. All donations will benefit the YMCA, a nonprofit, and programs for those who need financial assistance.
- Wednesday, December 1: Perform 50 pushups, 50 stair climbs, 50 squats, 50 minutes of cardio or 50 minutes in the pool in celebration of the 50th Members of the Reidsville Y who participate will be entered into a drawing for a free month of Y membership. Visit the branch for more information.
- Thursday, December 2: Join us for the branch celebration and reception at the Reidsville Family YMCA from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Reidsville Family YMCA will also waive the joining fee and offer 50 percent off the first month membership for all new members who join between Monday, November 29 and Sunday, December 5.
