Reidsville Child Care, Camp and After School
For more information contact Cassy Velarde, Reidsville Program Director at 336.637.1343
Through a holistic approach to development, Reidsville YMCA’s after school program provides kids #TimetoExplore by combining academics with play and offering a caring and safe environment where youth can achieve, feel a sense of belonging, build friendships and explore new interests. When kids attend afterschool programs at the Y, they improve their study habits and reading skills; build healthy eating and physical activity habits, gain exposure to the arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), global learning and more.
The Reidsville YMCA offers member discounts on after school care and offers two options for care for kids Kindergarten through 5th grade.
All day child care programs are also available when Rockingham County Schools are closed for teacher workdays.
After School Hours: Monday-Friday 2:45 – 6:00 pm
Teacher Workday Hours: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm
The after school, holidays and breaks follows the Rockingham County School schedule.
Schools serviced include South End Elementary and Williamsburg Elementary.
* Please note that our program requires 3 registered participants from each school in order to provide pick-up service.
Benefits of our program
Youth in Y after school programs demonstrate improvement in the values, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed for success in school and life. Y programs give kids #TimetoExplore and help fill gaps in schools and communities where some recreational opportunities like art, music and physical activity offerings are limited.
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Homework support, healthy snack, arts and humanities, character development, sports and fitness, outdoor games, board games, fitness activities, STEM programming and monthly swimming.
We offer financial assistance for all programs at the Reidsville YMCA through our Open Doors Scholarship Program.

Child Care While You Workout
PlayZone is designed for children from 3 months to 5 years old, but if the Energy Factory is not open can accommodate children from 3 months to 12 year old. This is a benefit for our Adult, Family and Senior memberships so as long as the accompanying adult is a member, children may use the PlayZone. Please do NOT bring sick children to PlayZone. Crying children will be given 15 minutes before a parent will be called unless staff is notified differently.
Monday to Friday: 8:30 am – 11:30am and 4:15pm-7:30pm
PlayZone may only be used for a maximum of 2 hours per day.
Contact Meredith Knowlton for more information.
Energy Factory is designed for children from 6 to 12 years old. It is a fully staffed youth wellness center designed to keep kids active and busy while mom and dad are working out. If the child is not a member of the YMCA there is a $5 fee per child to use the Energy Factory.
Monday to Friday: 4:30pm – 7:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: Closed
Energy Factory may only be used for a maximum of 2 hours per day.
Summer Day Camp
Join us this summer for Camp Soar. We offer a summer day camp program for ages 5-12. Our camp counselors go through hours of hands-on-training and our 1:12 staff to camper ratio allows us to offer quality programming for your kids. Last summer, one of our parents commented, “We have been very pleased with the quality and organization of the program. Every evening when I pick my grandson up, he has a smile on his face.” We offer lifelong lessons and friendships through our organized activities such as environmental education, group games, tennis, team building, library visits, and sports. We also take weekly Field Trips to places such as the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Camp Weaver and many more.
