Swimming is a life skill as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. The Reidsville YMCA offers swim lessons for all ages, swim team, water fitness and more. Swim year-round in our heated, indoor pools and swim with the folks that created group swim lessons!

The Reidsville YMCA offers a variety of water fitness programs for every fitness level. Each class is designed to give your body a great workout while taking away the stress that comes with land-based experiences. These classes combine water resistance exercise with aerobic activity for a total body workout.
How To Register:
Stop by the front desk to purchase a water fitness punch card. (except for specialty aquatic exercise classes)
Punch cards are issued once you register. Each card is good for 16 punches and expires within 60 days. You will hand your punch card to the lifeguard on duty who will keep track of your visits by punching your card each class you attend. Once your card is completed, The lifeguard will notify you to re-register for a new punch card. *Punch cards are REQUIRED for MWF classes only.
Potential Members In The City Limits: $34.00
Potential Members Outside The City : $42.00
YGUARD is a rigorous 40 hour class for ages 16 and up.
During this class, participants will learn life-saving rescue skills for an aquatic environment. Once a participant passes the class, and passes the skills and written test, they will be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard for 2 years and can lifeguard at any YMCA and most other facilities (certification requirements may vary at each location). This certification covers CPR/AED, First Aid, O2, and YGUARD life guard certification.
- A physical competency swim must be completed and passed prior to registration.
- Participants must attend all sessions, pass all written tests with an 80% or better in each section.
- Successfully perform all practical skills.
- Successfully demonstrate the ability to follow the Safe in Six principle.
- Turn in eLearning Certificates on due dates.
- You must complete a swimming prerequisite with Cassy Velarde, Program Director
Cost: $250 for Members or $300 for Potential Members
Your fee covers the certification costs plus the whistle, lanyard, rescue pack, and face mask.

Private Swim Lessons
Personal instruction by our swim instructors is a great way to get started, stay motivated, learn new techniques, and receive personal one-on-one attention. A great thing for those who are struggling in group lessons or works better one-on-one. Private lessons are composed of six, 30-minute lessons. Private lessons are for children 3 years and up.
When: Private lessons are offered January to November
Cost: YMCA members $65; Non-members $80
Note: Private lessons should be completed within a 2-month time period.
