Spears Unique Programs
Home School Physical Education allows home school students to learn and experience physical education from a trained YMCA staff member. Our program is designed to suit a wide age range and ability level while affordably fitting into your budget. Our program combines exercise and fun with a comprehensive curriculum to give your children a foundation for a strong mind & body. Our YMCA staff member will cover a variety of sports, aerobic activities & many other fun games. The class is made up of four 6-week sessions – 1 hour each week.
Tae Kwon Do
The Spears YMCA in partnership with the Greensboro Black Belt Academy offers Tae Kwon Do at three locations for children and adults.
We are an alliance that focuses on welcoming people on the Autism Spectrum. The Spears Family YMCA, in collaboration with local autism groups, runs a program for Adults with Autism and other communication disorders who have trouble with social interactions.
QUAD F is dedicated to developing friendships, motivating each other, having fun and promoting fitness, fusion and community engagement. During the program, the participants will eat together and do at least two of the following activities: swim, basketball, yoga, workout in fitness room, etc. This program was made possible through a challenge grant from the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation and the William A. Stern Foundation. QUAD F is recommended for adults who can participate in a social group independently. To ensure that the group is most beneficial for all, participants must complete an interview prior to enrollment.
