"Send a Kid to Camp" Event
Date: April 27, 2025 | Time: 5-8 p.m. | Location: YMCA Camp Weaver
The YMCA Camp Weaver Annual Giving Campaign “Send a Kid to Camp” program provides scholarships for underserved, underprivileged, deserving kids to attend summer camp and participate in valuable outdoor education opportunities. Event includes dinner, a live auction, silent auction, cash bar, live music, line dancing, impact stories, hay rides, s’mores, photo booth and more.
Many children never have the opportunity to experience the magic of camp and it is our goal to ensure that every child has this opportunity. Camp helps kids to do better in school, lessening the detrimental effects of summer learning loss and builds invaluable self-confidence.

The following is a snapshot of our achievements in 2024:
- 1,775 youth served in Camp Weaver programs
- 263 children were awarded scholarships to attend day and overnight camp sessions.
- 200 overnight campers participated in financial literacy camp.
- Partnered with organizations including Children’s Home Society, Partnership Village, Habitat for Humanity, North Carolina Bankers Association, Camp Hope and Camp Corral.
- 165 Military campers were served, across the southeast with priority given to children of disabled, wounded or fallen parents.
- 48 Counselor in Training and Leaders in Training teen program opportunities offered.
