Safety Around Water Classes
According to the CDC, two kids die from drowning every day and drowning is the second leading cause of death for kids ages 5–14 years old. Sixty percent of kids who drown are within 10 feet of safety according to Safe Kids Worldwide. However, drowning is preventable with the proper skills and knowledge.
The Y is the nation's leading expert in water safety and swim instruction. Through the Safety Around Water program nationwide, the Y engages 9 million kids each year and more than 1 million kids will take swim lessons at the Y. This special program is designed to affordably teach adults and children important skills in and around water. Participants will learn Boat Safety, Water Park Safety, Beach Safety and Backyard Pool Safety. Participants will also be introduced to beginning swimming skills. This program is recommended for individuals who have not had prior swim lessons.
Affordable Safety Around Water classes would not be possible without the generosity of supporters and donors. It currently costs $54 per participant to learn about water safety. Please consider donating today so that we can reduce the number of deaths caused by drowning and build skills that last a lifetime.
Our goal is to raise $5,400 to provide Safety Around Water classes to 100 individuals. Won't you join the cause and donate below?
