American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course
Learn lifesaving skills! The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
Participants must be 15 years of age or older.
All participants must successfully complete the following prerequisites on the first day of the class:
- 150-yard swim
- 2 minutes of treading water without hands
- 50-yard swim
- Timed retrieval of a 10-pound brick
- 150-yard swim, 2 minutes of treading water without hands, and 50-yard swim must be completed subsequently.
