Afterschool Youth Development Staff
Youth Development Leaders are responsible for supervising children while conducting educational, cultural and recreational activities for children from grades K-8.
Member Services Staff
The Member Services Staff is responsible for welcoming members and guests into the facility, for answering and transferring calls, and for positive communication of policy and program information to members and visitors at the desk.
Lifeguards
The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas, and creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

- Retirement plan eligibility: After completing 1000 hours of service over two, twelve-month periods and at least 21 years of age, part-time and full-time associates are eligible for the YMCA of Greensboro to contribute up to 12% of your earnings to a 401(a) account. Once enrolled, the associate is immediately vested.
- On-Demand Payments to access a portion of the money that you have already earned when you need it most.
- Paid Annual Leave: After being employed for one year, and working an average of 8 hours a week, part-time employees earn 8 hours of Paid Annual Leave to use during their second year of employment. This eligibility also provides for 8 hours of bereavement pay in case of the death of a covered relative.
- Mental Health Services: The YMCA of Greensboro offers free mental health support services through Family Solutions, LLC, with the option for both in-person and virtual appointments. Benefits for Full-Time Team Members
- Health Insurance: We offer two options for medical coverage. Dependent coverage is available, and the Y subsidizes the cost of insuring dependents. Health coverage is available the first day of the month following thirty days of employment.
- Dental Insurance: We also offer two options for Dental coverage. The Y pays the majority of the fee for employee only coverage in the Core plan. Dependent coverage is available for either plan with the employee covering all the cost for the richer plan and for dependent coverage. Dental coverage begins the first day of the month following thirty days of employment.
- Life Insurance: The YMCA provides life insurance for FT team members in varying amounts based on the position. In addition to this employer provided coverage, employees who elect to do so may purchase voluntary term life insurance for themselves and their dependents. Participation in these plans is available the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
- Short-and Long-Term Disability: The YMCA provides short- and long-term disability insurance for all full-time staff on a gross-up and deduct basis. The benefit provides tax-free replacement of up to 60% of regular income in the event of a period of total disability, subject to plan maximums.
- Supplemental Coverage: The YMCA offers the opportunity for full-time employees to enroll in supplemental accident and/or critical illness coverage.
- Retirement Savings: After an employee reaches eligibility, the YMCA of Greensboro currently contributes 12% of the employee’s earnings into the YMCA Retirement Fund. Eligibility requirements are 2 years of work in which the employee works 1000 hours and reaching age 21. Employees may elect at any time to make additional contributions to their retirement account up to the maximum allowable limits.
- Membership: Full time employees and their household are granted YMCA Metro memberships. Depending on the program, this may include free or discounted program participation
- Paid Annual Leave: The YMCA of Greensboro provides for paid time away from work through a system of accrual each pay period based on years of full-time service with the YMCA (unless accrual credit for experience outside the Y is specifically included in the job offer). This system of Paid Annual Leave includes payment for vacation days, sick time and holidays. If an employee is scheduled to work 30-35 hours per week, accrual happens at a reduced rate.
- Holidays: Administrative holidays that are included in the accrual system for Paid Annual Leave are as follows:
- New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day
