Summer 2026 at YMCA Camp Weaver: A Summer of Growth, Connection and Adventure
Summer at YMCA Camp Weaver is about more than a break from school. It is a chance for
young people to try something new, build confidence, form friendships and discover what
they are capable of.
Throughout Summer 2026, Camp Weaver welcomed 1,593 individual campers for
experiences that encouraged them to learn, grow and thrive in a safe and welcoming
environment.
From day camp to overnight camp and leadership programs, campers had opportunities to
explore the outdoors, develop new skills, challenge themselves and build meaningful
connections with their peers and counselors.
A Summer of Impact
The 2026 summer season brought thousands of camper experiences to YMCA Camp
Weaver, with 2,430 total registrations and enrollments across day, overnight and
leadership programs.
That included:
• 1,593 individual campers
• 812 unique day campers
• 776 unique overnight campers
• 1,507 day camp enrollments
• 864 overnight camp enrollments
• 66 teens participating in leadership programs
• 38 Overnight Leaders in Training
• 21 Overnight Counselors in Training
• 7 Day Camp Leaders in Training
For the teens participating in leadership programs, Camp Weaver also provided an
opportunity to take on greater responsibility, develop leadership skills and grow as role
models for younger campers.
Across every camp experience, the goal is the same: create opportunities for young people
to discover their strengths, build relationships and develop the confidence to carry what
they learn at camp into their lives beyond the summer.
Creating Opportunities for More Youth
At the YMCA, we believe that opportunities to learn, grow and thrive should be available to
everyone. Financial assistance helps make that possible by providing need-based support
for families who may otherwise face financial barriers to participating in YMCA programs,
including Camp Weaver.
Expanding access to Camp Weaver means more young people can experience the
activities, relationships and personal growth that make camp such a meaningful part of
summer.
And the community has an important role to play.
Tee Up for a Great Cause
On Friday, October 9, the YMCA of Greensboro will host the third annual YMCA Camp
Weaver Golf Tournament at Stoney Creek Golf Club.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the YMCA of Greensboro’s Send a Kid to Camp
campaign, helping provide financial assistance so more children in our community can
experience YMCA Camp Weaver.
The tournament will include prizes and additional competitions, and every participant will
receive a gift bag. More importantly, every round played helps support opportunities for
local youth.
