Join us this summer for Day Camp. We offer a summer day camp program for rising 1st graders to age 12. Our camp counselors go through hours of hands-on-training and our 1:12 staff to camper ratio allows us to offer quality programming for your kids. Last summer one of our parents commented, “We have been very pleased with the quality and organization of the program. Every evening when I pick my grandson up he has a smile on his face.” We offer lifelong lessons and friendships through our organized activities such as environmental education, group games, tennis, team building, library visits, and sports. We also take weekly Field Trips to places such as the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Camp Weaver and many more.
Through a holistic approach to development, Eden YMCA’s after school program provides kids #TimetoExplore by combining academics with play and offering a caring and safe environment where youth can achieve, feel a sense of belonging, build friendships and explore new interests. When kids attend after school programs at the Y, they improve their study habits and reading skills; build healthy eating and physical activity habits, gain exposure to the arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), global learning and more.
The Eden YMCA offers member discounts on after school care and offers two options for care for kids Kindergarten through 5th grade.
All day child care programs are also available when Rockingham County Schools are closed for teacher workdays.
After School Hours: Monday-Friday school dismissal– 6:00 pm
Teacher Workday Hours: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm
The after school, holidays and breaks follows the Rockingham County School schedule.
The Eden YMCA After School program will operate at four separate sites: Central, Douglass, Draper, and Leaksville-Spray. If school is closed, all sites attend the YMCA – snow days, teacher workdays, etc. On early release days, children remain at the school site.
* Please note the availability of sites requires a minimum average daily attendance.
Snow Days: Check WFMY News 2 for YMCA opening and closing times. If the YMCA opens at 9:00 a.m. or later, there will be NO CHILDCARE, that day.
Benefits of our program
Youth in Y after school programs demonstrate improvement in the values, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed for success in school and life. Y programs give kids #TimetoExplore and help fill gaps in schools and communities where some recreational opportunities like art, music and physical activity offerings are limited.
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Homework support, healthy snack, arts and humanities, character development, sports and fitness, outdoor games, board games, fitness activities, and more.
We offer financial assistance for all programs at the Eden YMCA through our Open Doors Scholarship Program.
