Informative Talk about the ACHIEVE Healthy Aging Study
The Ageing and Cognitive Health Evaluation in Elders study is a research study investigating two different treatments that may promote healthy aging and cognitive health in older adults. ACHIEVE includes a successful aging education intervention and a hearing loss intervention. This study has certain requirements to be eligible to participate. You must be between the ages of 70-84, a fluent speaker of English, have some hearing issues but not currently using a hearing aid, and not living in a nursing home. If you are eligible and decide to participate in ACHIEVE, you will be randomly assigned to one of two programs: either a healthy aging program with one-on- one session with a health educator; or a hearing loss program. In the hearing loss program, you will be given hearing aids and have sessions with an audiologist. If you are assigned to the healthy aging program you will get hearing aids at the end of the study.
