UN ASSEMBLY

NC Middle School United Nations Assembly

The first weekend in April 2005, the Model United Nations Assembly was held at the Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain. Students from Mendenhall Middle represented the YMCA of Greensboro as the country of Iraq, with over 100 students from all over NC, representing 25 countries.

The club received two awards: Best Flag and Best Proposal.

A model United Nations Programs is an exciting educational opportunity for middle school students to learn about global issues.

Participants assume the roles of diplomatic representatives to the UN as they consider international concerns.

Each April, students participate in the United Nations Assembly at Black Mountain NC.

The Conference includes formal debates, counsel meetings, and a Festival of Nations. Social activities include movies, pizza dinners, and a dance party.

Now offered at Mendenhall Middle School.
